Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers about lessons, scheduling, pricing, and how we match students with the right tutor. Everything you need to know before your first class.
At Tutoring Barcelona, we follow a personalized learning model. We assess each student’s math skills, create tailored learning plans, and offer face-to-face instruction to build strong math foundations. We can provide our own teaching and learning resources based on the pre test and the student’s goals or we can utilise school textbooks or study guides provided from the school.
We conduct a comprehensive assessment to understand your child’s strengths and areas that need development. Based on this assessment, we design a customized learning plan that suits your child’s learning style and needs. This may involve using our own resources and creating a learning guide or using resources from school, specifically targed to their curriculum and course.
Absolutely. Our small class sizes ensure that each student receives individual attention from our tutors, even within a group setting. This approach encourages peer learning and collaborative problem-solving. Tutors are there to support each learner with their personalized plan, whilst also allowing them space to think, problem solve and work on their own. This is important because sometimes students can come to rely too heavily on the support of a tutor during one to one classes. This means that in classes or test situations, they haven’t developed their full ability to problem solve on their own.
You can cancel or amend your booking up to 2 days before the class.
What happens if I don’t?
1. Email us (info@tutoringbarcelona.com) and if it is a one off, we will change it manually in the system, without charging the 30EUR “no show” fee
2. If a student doesn’t turn up or continues to book multiple classes per week without showing up, these classes will be charged at 30EUR each, in addition to the monthly fee.
Our monthly contracts at Tutoring Barcelona are designed to offer flexibility and convenience while ensuring consistent progress in your child’s math education. When you enroll your child, you commit to a month-to-month arrangement that provides them access to our personalised math tutoring services.
Here’s how it works:
Enrollment: After the pre assessment, we will reach out via email/ phone call to let you know what we advise. If you would like to proceed, you start by enrolling your child in one of our personalised learning programs—Support, Core, or Extension. Each program is tailored to address your child’s specific needs and goals.
Monthly Commitment: Upon enrollment, you enter into a monthly contract. This means your child will have ongoing access to our tutoring services for the duration of that month. For the first month, we charge what is left for the remainder of the month. From then on, we invoice you each month, with payment due on the 1st of each month. If you would like to cancel your membership, you must notify us in writing to info@tutoringbarcelona.com by the 15th of each month. Monthly payments run from September – May + the first two weeks of June (half the monthly rate). We are not open and we do not charge you from the middle June – end of August.
Tutoring Barcelona is available for students in grades 4 – 10. At the moment, we only offer mathematics tutoring, however, we are looking to add other subjects as the year progresses.
We also offer a limited number of IB/ A Level places. The reason for this is that IB / A Level tutoring is more demanding and requires high level, expert math tutors. IB / A Level students must check the online booking timetable to see available for IB tutors.
We are familiar with and love teaching the major curriculums including IB, British and American Curriculums. Some of our tutors also tutor in Spanish and can work with students studying in Spanish/ Catalan. This must be discussed at the time of enrolment to ensure we have enough tutors available to cater for this.
